Get it over with...

Yesterday I was in a workshop about a statistics topic that I am very interested in. I had female colleague with me. During the breaks, all she wanted to talk about was his son. I have lots of friends like her. Instead of career topics, they are more interested in talking about their kids... I am not jealous or anything, but I found the topic really boring (how his son started talking, walking, etc.)

I also realized all the women colleagues of mine with small kids, they like to talk about their kids, but not about their husbands at all. Is marriage only about woman+ children?

She started talking about marriage, and how it restricts her life, how she cannot go abroad to study even for 6 months, but when I asked some questions, she changed so quickly and said "happiness for her is to raise her son"...*sigh*

After listening to her, I realized, if I had to choose between a career and a marriage, I would choose my career. That it is a lonely road and I had enough of that loneliness, but that is the path I would choose. So, finally yesterday I put a full-stop to my complaints about not having a family. Getting both would be wonderful of course, but I think I will continue working on my career right now than thinking about marriage.

I want someone to love... for the sake of loving someone, not only to get a family.
